Important Information for Participants
About the City
Shimla, often referred to as the Queen of Hills for its magnificent scenic charm and surreal climate, was the summer capital of the British Raj from 1864 to 1947. Nestled in the North-Western Himalayas, at an altitude of 2128 metres (6,982 ft) above sea level, Shimla is currently, the capital of the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh. The city still romances quite a few buildings styled in tudorbethan and neo-gothic architecture reminiscent of the colonial era, masked by forests of cedar, oak and rhododendron.
